Re-Designing Your Bedroom

Redesigning your bedroom or home improvement, that includes flooring, doors and windows, house painting & finishing, and decors, increases your room have a better appearance and comfortability.

This pandemic has changed our lifestyle to a large extent. We started to spend more time in our houses, do almost everything virtual or online. We check what is the latest and find ways to entertain ourselves by watching or doing renovations.

Redecorating or revamping is one of the great ideas to spend your free time being more productive. It can make your house more welcoming, comfortable, and display your unique creativity.

If you are thinking of redoing your home, start in your bedroom. Why? As most of the main items are already available and you might just need a little retouch or declutter. Plus, buying new items that match your design is not that costly.

Below are the tips and main foundation on how you can decorate your comfy bedrooms.

COLORS

Instead of bold primary colors, choose soothing shades or using a matching palette. By means of colors, it doesn't only apply to your walls but as well as the fabrics that you'll be using. Like drapes, beddings, carpets or rugs, upholstered headboard, and so forth.

If you are a morning person, try choosing a lighter color scheme. And darker shades, if you less enjoy the early mornings. Here are the trendy or ideas for wall paint colors.

FURNITURE

Your bedroom should not look like a storage room. Let's be honest, sometimes we put our old living room furniture in our bedroom, to re-use it and not put it into waste. Give your bedroom room to breathe. The bedroom should be a place to unwind and a calming place to rest. The key to having a spacious bedroom is the arrangement and size of your furniture. Also, have furniture that provides plenty of storage.

LIGHTING & CEILING

The ceiling is the fifth wall in your room. Overhead lighting in a bedroom is alright or you might want to add a little pattern on your ceiling. Lighter wall paint will help to give the space and the feeling of coziness. You might also want to add bedside lamps and task-specific lighting to suit your needs.

CLOTHS

Invest wisely in your drapes, pillows + pillowcases, sheets, comforter, rug, and mattress. A good quality mattress and pillows that are comforting will help you have a good night's rest. In buying your bed linens make sure to have 350 thread counts or higher. Throw pillows and blankets are sometimes not necessary but create a better ambiance.
Rugs can make your room feel inviting. Choose the rug that adds color, texture, or pattern to your bedroom from the ground up.

CURTAINS or DRAPES

Curtains have lighter fabrics and drapes have thicker fabrics. Both blocks out light but drapes are lined to block out more light. Find curtains/drapes that have a subtle texture and can filter in sunlight. For a more vibrant approach, pick curtain colors that match your rug, pillows, and other furniture.

FINAL DECOR

Objects are an intimate expression of your personal style. So, add some eye-catching art like wall art. Wall art, floating shelves, and hanging art are one way of bringing your bedroom to life, without compromising your floor size. Be careful not to overdo it or add too much small furniture.

Now we are through with the foundation of redecorating your bedroom. Here are some things that you should keep in mind to maintain your bedroom and sanctuary.

ELECTRONIC DEVICES

In our times, electronic devices are ingrained into our lives. And especially of our current situation, the “stay-at-home” order due to the pandemic.

Electronics shouldn't or at least cut the use of it in the bedroom. The blue light of your gadgets makes it harder for your brain to produce melatonin. Melatonin is a hormone that plays a role in your natural sleep-wake cycle.

If it is unavoidable, it's recommended to use your devices a couple of hours before going to bed. The "night-mode" setting that is available in our gadget will help your brain to relax a little as well. Or the best option, have your gadgets silent or mute your phone from any notifications.

CLUTTERS

Food, drinks, clothes, shoes, and other unnecessary objects are considered clutter. Foods and drinks can increase the chance of your bed linens to have stain and attract microbes. Our recommendation is to keep a glass of water by your bedside.

Clothes and shoes should be either in the laundry/outside your room or inside the closet. Avoid leaving them all over your bedroom. Organized clothes will also help you have a less stressful morning and get a dress in a relaxed manner.

Clutter directly clashes with your bedroom goal, having a relaxing area in your home. Maintaining your bedroom a picture-perfect at all the time is maybe impossible. But there are some tips we can provide you to maintain your rooms clean and welcoming.

PETS

It is nice to have your fur babies be with you in your bedroom. It adds a sense of extra security both for you as a fur parent and for your fur babies. Despite the snuggles and security, your pets can disrupt your sleep.

EXERCISE EQUIPMENT

Having your exercise equipment in your bedroom might give you convenience. A convenient and accessible way to get fit right after bed. Or perhaps it’s out of necessity simply because you live in a small home or condo.

But even if you have a small or big bedroom, consider creating a division between your sanctuary and workout. Give your brain time to relax and your muscles to warm up in a natural way. Here are some of the reasons exercise equipment is one of the things you should never have in your bedroom:

  • exercise machines that stop getting used just become clutter (and a resting place for more clutter)

  • working out before bed can make it harder for you to sleep

  • workout equipment (even equipment only you use) usually isn’t very sanitary

  • if you haven’t been keeping up with your workouts, having always-visible exercise equipment in the bedroom increases your feelings of guilt. Or it triggers your brain to do an exercise right away.

You can improve how your home’s bedrooms function and how well your family sleeps merely by having higher standards for what’s allowed in bedroom and regular housekeeping. Do not overdo redesigning your rooms.
Simplicity with elegance and well functioned furniture is the key to have a relaxing and comfortable home.
